The Plummers came to Texas in the 1830s. Joseph E. Plummer was a surveyor, served in the Texas Army, and built the first residence at Copano in Refugio County circa 1840. Samuel A. Plummer was a lawyer and business associate of Mirabeau B. Lamar, and a captain in the Texas Army. Joseph E. Plummer, Jr. and Francis W. Plummer also served in the Texas Army.
